Disability Services

SERVICES FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

The Learning Assistance Centre offers:

  • academic support for students
  • specific services for students with disabilities.

It is the responsibility of students to make arrangements for the Centre's services.
All students must meet the essential learning outcomes for a course or program of study.

Academic accommodations are provided on the basis of documentation of a disability and may include:

  • extended time for tests and exams
  • use of adaptive technology for tests and exams
  • notetakers (notetakers are on a volunteer basis and may not be available for all courses)
  • books in alternate format

Technical devices are available for students with disabilities.  The Centre has computer workstations with software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking, JAWS, Zoom Text, TextHELP, Inspiration and Kurzweil.

All involvement with the Learning Assistance Centre is confidential.
